Plum Creek Foundation has awarded $2,500 to the Coos Bay Area Zonta Foundation to purchase school supplies for low-income children in all six Coos County school districts. Supplies will be purchased and distributed during the 2014-2015 school year. Zonta’s Little Red Schoolhouse Program began in 1998 to respond to the overwhelming number of children in Coos County who arrived on the first day of school with no supplies. This program provides basic school supplies to low-income students at all six school districts in the county. Over 4,400 children in Coos County qualified for assistance at the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year in September.
