The City of Coos Bay will be installing a bridge crossing along 6th Avenue located approximately 300 feet south of F Street.  Construction is anticipated to span from October 9, 2017 to February 15, 2018 from 7am to 6pm Monday through Friday. For safety reasons, traffic along 6th Avenue will be affected for both light weight and heavy hauling vehicles:  Light Weight Vehicles and Buses will have only one lane of traffic south bound for the duration of the project. The north bound traffic will be detoured with the route below. Heavy Hauling Vehicles will not be allowed to utilize the light weight vehicle detour route.  All heavy hauling vehicles will be routed along either East Bay Road or Ross Inlet/Sumner Road. The approved detour route will be posted on the Trip Check and ODOT Motor Carrier websites. There will be a complete closure of the project site for two days between October 18th and 27th. During this complete road closure, all light weight traffic will be detoured along F Street, 9th Avenue, and H Street. City Council must formally approve all road closures, so this will be presented at the October 10th Council Work Session (5:30 pm at the Fire Station, 450 Elrod Avenue), and at the October 17th Council Meeting (7:00 pm at City Hall, 500 Central Avenue). Public comments will be received at both meetings.  If you have any questions please contact Jennifer Wirsing at 541-269-1181 ext. 2247.
