The “Armchair Film Adventures” series at Coos Bay Public Library continues on Tuesday, March 12th at 2:00 p.m. in the Myrtlewood Meeting Room.  This month’s feature is “Aruba Beyond the Sun and Sand.” This travel video explores the stories behind the culture, language, art, music, cuisine, natural environment and commerce of Aruba as told by the Aruban people themselves.  Rattlesnakes, sea turtles, caves, hot peppers, the tingilingi box, papiamento and the “Balashi cocktail” are just some of the fascinating subjects covered.  A cooking demonstration of an authentic Aruban recipe is also featured. Scenes include interviews with musician Padu del Caribe, artists Ciro Abath and Daan Homan, Carnival float designer Johnny Fingal, restauranteur Lenie Ellis and bar owner Charlie Brouns II and locations such as the Ministry of Agriculture, an aloe vera factory, the water desalination plant, the town of San Nicolas and the unspoiled desert landscapes of Arikok National Park. Everyone is welcome at this program sponsored by The Friends of Coos Bay Public Library.  No admission is charged and refreshments will be provided.  Please call 269-1101 for further information about this program.  The library is located at 525 Anderson Avenue in Coos Bay.
