Unlawful entry, CCSO release.  On 4/17/2018 a Coos County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to two 911 calls reporting an assault which had occurred in Powers, Oregon. One of the callers, who were later identified as 35-year old Robert Finder, North Bend, requested medical attention for a concussion he received as a result. Mr. Finder was transported by ambulance to Coquille Valley Hospital. The Deputy responded to the hospital to meet the ambulance and Mr. Finder. The first 911 caller had reported the man being transported by ambulance had unlawfully entered another person’s home in Powers. The deputy began to interview Mr. Finder in the emergency room of Coquille Valley Hospital but Mr. Finder became belligerent. Mr. Finder told the deputy he and gone to Powers because he had given an X Box to a child and their mother was refusing to let the child to play with it. Mr. Finder felt since he had given it to the child the child’s mother could not keep it from the child. Mr. Finder said he was assaulted by the persons inside of the house when he tried to forcibly take the property back. Robert Finder became upset when he found out he could be charged with several crimes and became argumentative. When he found out he was going to be taken into custody he attempted to flee the hospital before being seen by medical personnel. The Deputy chased after him and with the assistance of a Coquille Police Officer stopped the man and to take him into custody. Robert Finder physically resisted the arrest and remained uncooperative during the remainder of the process. Physical force had to be used when he refused to get into the police car for transport to the Coos County Jail. After being forced into the police car he spat on the Deputy. The investigation indicated Robert Finder assaulted two women adult relatives and two male juvenile relatives attempting to overcome his attempt to take their property. Additionally, he used physical force and an improvised weapon when he tried to assault a neighbor who intervened to break up the fight. After driving away from the scene in a manner which endangered persons and property he was found to be in possession of license plates displayed on his truck which were stolen from a church in Hauser. Robert Finder was arrested and lodged on a total of 13 criminal charges. This investigation is ongoing and additional charges are also possible. The city of Powers is still looking to replace their retired Police Chief. Until then the Coos County Sheriff’s Office is handling all emergent life threatening calls for service.
