Hwy. 42, Coquille, CCSO release – On March 11, 2019, at about 10:00 PM, Deputies were dispatched to 10001 Highway 42 in Coquille for a disturbance. Upon arrival, Deputies spoke with several people on scene. Deputies learned 49 year old Scott Smith had arrived home from work and saw a male on his property. The male was there visiting another resident of the property. Without reason, Smith attacked the male. Smith told Deputies it was his property and he did not want anyone on it, even if they were a guest of another tenant. The male victim suffered an injury to his eye during the attack. Smith was arrested for Assault IV and taken to the Coos County Jail. Once at the Coos County Jail, Deputies located a bindle of suspected methamphetamine in his pant pocket. Smith was booked and lodged on the Assault charge, and the suspected methamphetamines have been sent to the Oregon State crime lab for testing. Deputies were assisted by Myrtle Point Police.
