A 26-year old Veneta woman died Monday morning when her car was struck by a commercial truck as she attempted to pull onto Highway 126W about two miles east of Veneta in Lane Country. Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation. The victim’s name is released in this update.  On November 25, 2013 at approximately 7:16 a.m., a 2002 Saturn four-door driven by AIMEE BROOKE THOMAS, age 26, from Veneta, was stopped southbound on Ellmaker Road at the intersection with Highway 126W. As THOMAS attempted to turn left (eastbound) onto Highway 126W, her car was struck in the driver’s door by a westbound 2005 Peterbuilt truck pulling two trailers loaded with powder cement. The truck pushed the passenger car across the highway and into a ditch on the south side of Highway 126W.  THOMAS was pronounced deceased at the scene. She was using safety restraints.  The truck’s driver, CARL MOSIER, age 64, from Brookings, was not injured. He was also using safety restraints.
