News release CCSO.  On 6/21/2017 at 1129 hours 27 year old Jeramie Lee Shilts trespassed onto  property and attempted to gain entry into the home located at 96421 Hwy 42, Coquille, Coos County, Oregon.  This is the  home of a 75 year old male.  The homeowner was home watching tv and saw Mr. Shilts pass the window and knock repeatedly on the door.  The homeowner ignored Mr. Shilts as he did not know who he was. After a moment Mr. Shilts tried to open the door by turning the knob [the door was locked].  Mr. Shilts then went out of view towards the backside of the home.   The homeowner armed himself with a semi automatic handgun.  The homeowner went outside and found that Mr. Shilts had placed an aluminum extension ladder against the home to an open second story window.  Mr. Shilts was confrontational with the home owner and the home owner fired two warning shots in the ground nearby demanding Mr. Shilts leave his property. Mr. Shilts fled the sceene on foot.  While enroute to the location it was determined Mr. Shilts had approached an adjacent proprety owner as well attempting to pan handle for money under the ruse he had ran out of gas.  Deputies located Mr. Shilts on foot near mile post 6 on Hwy 42 near the community of Coledo.  It was determined Mr. Shilts had been previously released earlier from the Coos County Jail.  Mr. Shilts was arrested without incident and transported to the Coos County Jail and lodged.
