The Coos Bay School District Board of Directors invites the public to attend one of two meetings being held in Pirate Hall, located on Marshfield High School’s campus at 10th and Ingersoll in Coos Bay, OR 97420. On Monday, February 22nd, the meeting begins at 5:00 PM; on Tuesday, February 23rd, the meeting begins at 6:00 PM. The purpose for the meetings is to gather information from the community for the superintendent search about the desired qualities for a new superintendent who will begin employment July 1, 2016. The meetings will be facilitated by one of the school board’s superintendent search consultants, Greg McKenzie or Mike Taylor, and will take between 30 — 45 minutes. For those unable to attend a meeting, a brief online survey will be available on the Coos Bay School District’s website at www.cbd9.net during the period February 17th — 29th. On the website look for the announcement about the superintendent search and click on the survey link. The survey will only take about 3-5 minutes. The survey is anonymous and results will be sent directly to NextUp Leadership, not district staff or board members. Likewise, the search consultants will not disclose the source of particular comments made at any of the meetings, nor will board members be present at the meetings. With the information gathered at the community meetings, from the online survey, interviews with community leaders and from similar meetings with staff and students, the school board will adopt a set of qualifications for the superintendent search process. The school board anticipates discussing the information at its special board meeting Monday, March 7th where the public will have a chance to offer comments before the board adopts a set of qualifications. For additional information or if you would like to have a translator present at this meeting, please contact the Superintendent’s Office at (541) 267-1310.
