Assault IV
News release CCSO.  On August 11, 2017, at about 1630 hours, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Sea Drift Motel in Lakeside, Oregon in response to a disturbance. While responding, Deputies learned the incident was between a man and a woman. After arriving, Deputies contacted Teenie Herrick, Teresa Maloney and other witnesses. Through the course of the investigation it was learned Richard Herrick had come to the hotel after being previously trespassed and had gained entry into his estranged wife’s room. Teresa Maloney reported witnessing Richard Herrick hit his wife, Teenie Maloney, Richard’s wife reported she had been hit by Herrick as well. As he was leaving, Herrick threatened Maloney with a wine bottle. It was further determined that Herrick had broke a curtain rod inside of the room. Herrick, a probationer out of Coos County was arrested on a probation violation as well as the new charges of Assault IV Domestic, Menacing, Criminal Mischief III and Criminal Trespass II. Herrick was transported to the Coos County Jail where he was booked and lodged.

Warrant Service
News release CCSO.  On August 12, 2017 at about 0215 hours, Deputies were dispatched to 800 Kings Ave. in Powers for a reported dispute. The dispute was between Eric Smith and his ex-wife, Jessica Smith, regarding a custody issue with their children. Eric stated Jessica had punched him when he was trying to pick up the kids. Deputies arrived and attempted to make contact with Eric and Jessica. Eric had already left the scene and Jessica was either not home or refused to answer the door for deputies. Deputies located Eric at his residence on Fig St. Deputies interviewed Eric about the incident. In addition, Eric had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Eric was arrested for the warrant on the charges for DUII and Reckless Driving. Eric was transported to the Coos County Jail, booked and held on $15,000.00 bail. Jessica will be referred to the Coos County District Attorney’s Office for Harassment.
