Warrant/Beach
Bastendorff Beach, CCSO release – On June 22, 2018, at about 11:18pm, a Coos County Sheriff’s Deputy and a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Law Enforcement Ranger observed a Toyota Forerunner exiting the beach sand without a flag and no headlights operating at the South Jetty of the Coos Bay. Furthermore, the vehicle was in the area outside of daylight hours. A traffic stop was conducted upon the vehicle. The deputy contacted James Lefebvre, 31 years old and Crystal Sasson, 33 years old of Medford, Oregon. The driver of the vehicle, James Lefbvre was found to have a suspended driver license, and it was learned that Crystal Sasson had two active warrants for her arrest out of Washington County, Oregon. Sasson was arrested on the active warrants. Lefebvre was cited for Driving While Suspended and No OHV Sticker and warned for No Flag and Driving Without Lights. Both subjects were warned for Criminal Trespass II. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office wishes to remind the public that Bastendorff Beach has been designated by BLM as a day use area open from dawn to dusk each day. Any person in the area outside of these times may be criminally cited for Criminal Trespass II or Federally cited for being in the area outside of designated times. Furthermore, if the sand roads in the area are being utilized, it is required that an eight by twelve inch red or orange flag be displayed at least nine feet off the ground and an ATV Permit Sticker be attached to the vehicle. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in this matter by BLM Law Enforcement.
