Menacing
Bunker Hill, CCSO release – On September 18, 2019, at about 7:19 pm, Deputies were dispatched to the area of State Highway 101 and Newport Lane in Coos Bay for a report of a male walking out into traffic yelling at drivers. Upon the Deputy’s arrival, the Deputy observed 54 year old Kevin James Waldron, walking east bound in the middle of Newport Lane near Center Street. As the Deputy approached Waldron, Waldron told the Deputy to leave him alone or he would cut the Deputies throat. After the Deputy observed Waldron holding an object behind his back, the Deputy asked Waldron if he had a knife and to show him his hands. Waldron raised his hand with what appeared to be a small stick and a small silver object in his palm. Waldron again told the Deputy he had a knife and he would kill the Deputy if the Deputy didn’t leave him alone. After the Deputy drew his service weapon into the ready position, Waldron ran form Newport Lane down Center Street. The Deputy pursued Waldron down Center Street and through several back yards. As Waldron was climbing over a back yard fence, the Deputy told him to stop and that he was under arrest. After the Deputy told Waldron to stop, Waldron continued to run and told the Deputy if the
Deputy pursued him, he would cut the Deputy’s throat again. After Waldron ran into a high fenced back yard, Waldron was unable to escape. Waldron turned to the Deputy and surrendered. Waldron was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was logged on the charges of Menacing, Escape in the 2nd Degree, Disorderly Conduct in the 2nd Degree and a Parole Violation.
