Unlawful Use of Weapon
News release CCSO.  On 07/30/2017 at about 1201 hours, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a domestic dispute at the above location. The victim told deputies that the suspect had pulled a handgun, pointed it at her, and threatened to shoot her (the victim) and then shoot herself (the suspect). It was determined the couple were arguing about finances when the incident happened. The two involved have been together for over 40 years. The firearm purported to have been was located and seized as evidence of the crime. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Coos County Jail. Ann Browning remains in custody on $35,000 bail.

Warrant
News release CCSO. On July 30, 2017, at approximately 0003 hours, Deputies were dispatched to 63448 Railroad Road, Coos Bay, Coos County, Oregon. It was in regards to a 911 call with an unknown problem. During the course of the investigation it was determined to be in regards to Thomas Bishop being at the residence. Thomas had a valid warrant for his arrest. Thomas was arrested on the warrant and transported to the Coos County Jail. Thomas was held on a bail of $25000.00 dollars.

Olive Barber Accident
News release CCSO.  On 7/28/2017 at 0946 Sheriff’s Deputies and the Coos Bay Police Department responded to a call of a non injury motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Olive Barber Road and Coos River Highway. Upon investigation it was learned falling metal debris from a white Ford pickup pulling a flat bed trailer struck a motor vehicle operated by a 44 year old North Bend Woman. The debris broke through the windshield and impaled into the dashboard of the small car. The debris was determined to be a large steel rototiller tine. The operator of the Ford pickup did not stop and is yet to be identified. The Sheriff’s Office urges individuals to ensure they safely secure loads when transporting scrap metal and other items. Anyone with information regarding the case is urged to call the Sheriff’s Office.

Burglary & Theft
News release CCSO.  On July 29, 2017 the Coos County Sheriff’s Office responded to 91213 Cape Arago Highway for a report of a residential burglary. During the course of the investigation, the responding Deputy learned that a Cannondale racing bicycle valued at over $2,500 was taken from the residence. While checking the nearby area for evidence, the Deputy learned that Oregon State Police had located Dakota Maine in a stolen vehicle near the residence. The stolen bicycle was located in the brush near the stolen vehicle in a location where a Senior Trooper reported seeing Maine just prior to contacting him. Maine was arrested on multiple outstanding warrants, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Unlawful Entry into a Motor Vehicle and Criminal Trespass II by Oregon State Police. Maine was also charged with Burglary I and Theft I in relation to the Sheriff’s Office case. The bicycle was returned to it’s owner. Maine is currently held at the Coos County Jail in lieu of $190,000 bail.

DUII
News release CCSO.  On July 29, 2017, at about 1920 hours, deputies stopped a 1989 Chevrolet S-10 pickup on Highway 42 near Johnson Mill Road in Coquille for a traffic violation. Upon contact with the driver, Ronald Neuwirth, deputies detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from te vehicle. Ronald consented to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, and at the conclusion of the tests, deputies arrested Neuwirth for Driving Under the Influence. Neuwirth was taken to the Coos County Jail, where he submitted a breath sample. Neuwirth had a BAC of .20%. Neuwirth, 53 years old of Myrtle Point, was booked on DUII and issued citation for Driving While Suspended, Driving Uninsured and Careless Driving. This arrest wrapped up the combined Driving under the Influence of Intoxicants and Seatbelt enforcement during the Coos County Fair week. Beginning in the latter part of August and continuing over the Labor Day weekend more seatbelt and DUII focused patrols will be conducted.

Traffic Stop
News release CCSO.  On July 28th, 2017 at approximately 2107 hours, deputies observed a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling south bound on Boat Basin Road, Charleston, Coos County, Oregon. Deputies checked the license plate and learned the vehicle registration was expired. Deputies initiated a traffic stop and contacted the operator of the vehicle, Richard Luck. The passenger of the vehicle was identified as Elizabeth Reed. After further investigation it was discovered that Richard was driving while suspended at the misdemeanor level. Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center advised the deputies both subjects were Coos County Corrections Clients. Deputies contacted a Coos County Corrections Parole and Probation Officer who authorized detainers on both subjects. Both Richard and Elizabeth where transported to the Coos County Jail without incident and lodged. Richard was booked for Driving While Suspended at the misdemeanor level and a Parole Violation. Elizabeth was booked on a Probation Violation. Both subjects were held without bail.
