Southwestern Oregon Community College’s Small Business Development Center (Southwestern SBDC) in cooperation with Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) will host a series of project compliance seminars this month for contractors, subcontractors, local agency partners and consultants with the goal of improving compliance with Oregon’s prevailing wage laws. The Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries will present information as well. The project compliance seminars are scheduled as follows: • NORTH BEND Oct. 21: Southwestern Oregon Community College, Small Business Development Center, 2455 Maple Leaf; • MEDFORD Oct. 22: Rogue Community College/SOU Higher Education Center, 101 S. Bartlett St.; • ROSEBURG Oct. 23: Umpqua Business Center, 522 Southeast Washington Avenue. Each seminar runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with an 8:30 a.m. sign in. Seating is limited. There is no cost for this training. To register, call ODOT Civil Rights Field Coordinator Christie Meacham at 541-957-3698 or email her at christie.meacham@odot.state.or.us. “The seminar is a good review or, if you’re considering bidding on ODOT projects for the first time, to learn the nuts and bolts of project compliance,” said Meacham. “Commercial contractors are also eligible for continuing education credit with Oregon’s Construction Contractors Board.”
