News release City of Coos Bay. As you may know, the City is underway on the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant in Empire at the northeast corner of Fulton Avenue and South Empire Boulevard. This plant will serve the Empire and Charleston area. Due to the construction, there will be a great deal of activity including mobilization of cranes, sheet pile driving, increased construction traffic in the surrounding neighborhood, etc. that may impact the nearby neighbors and businesses. As a result, the City and the City’s contractor want to invite the community to join us for an informational open house and opportunity to engage with our Contractor and City staff regarding this construction. We will discuss the construction schedule, upcoming activities, and address any questions or concerns that the community has. The Open House will be held at 676 South Empire Boulevard at 4:30 pm on Thursday, March 23rd. Coffee, water, snacks, and cookies (compliments of NW Natural) will be provided. Available parking can be found on Marple Street (adjacent to the construction site) and along the portion of Fulton Avenue on the west side of South Empire Boulevard. The City’s contractor will have personnel on site to help direct traffic (vehicle & pedestrian). See below for a map of the area.
