On October 11, 2018 just before 7:00 am, Coos Bay Fire Department was dispatched to 63448 Railroad Road in the Bunkerhill area for a motorhome on fire next to another building.  Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found the motorhome fully involved with flames coming out of the windows and door.  Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire without damage to the nearby structure or other nearby vehicles.   The motorhome and contents were not insured, and it is considered a total loss.  Value of the motorhome is less than a $1,000. After an investigation, it was determined that the cause of the fire was caused by an unattended candle left burning while the occupant was in the main house on the property.  No injuries were reported. With this occurring during Fire Prevention Week, Coos Bay Fire Department would like everyone to remember, a candle is an open flame which means that it can easily ignite anything that can burn. Never leave candles unattended because a fire can happen anytime and anywhere.  If you would like any additional information about the fire or the Coos Bay Fire Department, contact Fire Chief Mark Anderson at 541-269-1191.
