News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office: On January 23, 2015, at approximately 1944 hours, Coos County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to the Old General Store, located at 91133 Cape Arago Highway, in the Charleston area of Coos Bay, Coos County, OR, for a female customer who was threatening the employees and refusing to leave the property. A Deputy arrived on scene at around 1950 hours, and spoke with the reporting party, who said the female subject had left in a southbound direction on Cape Arago Highway. The Deputy contacted the female subject, later identified as 29-year-old Sweet Melody Wright of Los Angeles, CA, on Cape Arago Highway, in between Walker Road and Coos Head Road. While the Deputy was affecting arrest, Ms. Wright resisted arrest, but she was ultimately detained. The female subject was transported to Bay Area Hospital to be treated for pain and possible mental instability. After being released, Ms. Wright was transported to the Coos County Jail without incident, where she was booked for ORS 166.025 – Disorderly Conduct II, ORS 162.315 – Resisting Arrest, ORS 163.208 – Assault on a Public Safety Officer, and ORS 162.375 – Initiating a False Report, and was held on $42,500 bail.
