According to the Oregon Employment Dept.’s monthly newsletter South Coast Labor Trends, Coos County payroll employment was little changed in December, slipping by 20 jobs. Seasonally expected declines were estimated in construction (-30) and leisure and hospitality (-70). Professional and business services employment also declined, down by 20 jobs in December. Over the year, Coos County payroll employment rose by 420 jobs. Curry County payroll employment fell by 110 jobs over the month. Construction lost 50 jobs and leisure and hospitality shed 60 jobs. Government employment dipped by 20 jobs, federal and local government each lost 10 jobs in December. Over the past 12 months, total payroll employment fell by 30 jobs.
