Tournament Raises $30K for Youth Golf Program
News release Coquille Tribe. The Coquille Indian Tribe’s 2016 Adult Golf Fundraiser Tournament raised more than $30,000, more than doubling last year’s total. Proceeds from the annual tournament pay for golf instruction for dozens of area youth. More than 30 sponsors supported the June 4 tournament at Watson Ranch Golf, and 28 foursomes played. A barbecue and awards banquet was held afterward at The Mill Casino-Hotel & RV Park. “We want to thank all the sponsors, golf committee members, volunteers and coaches – and of course the golfers,” said Luke Clark, activities director for the Coquille Indian Tribe. “They’re all great supporters and we look forward to seeing you all again next year. Funds raised in the tournament paid for the tribe’s Youth Golf Clinic at the Bandon Dunes Golf Practice Center on June 23. The clinic is open to all local youth, and this year more than 60 attended, ranging from 7-18 years old. Tournament proceeds also allowed the tribe to hold a three-day golf camp in July for 11 youth, also at Bandon Dunes.
