On February 5, 2018, at approximately 8:15am, the Oregon State Police responded to a crash on I-205 near milepost 8, in Clackamas County. The preliminary investigation has determined that a Clackamas County Deputy (motor officer) was southbound on I-205 responding to an incident, with lights and siren on and operating a 2009 BMW motorcycle. He was driving on the inside shoulder, when 46 year old Eric PROCTOR, who was in the left lane, failed to yield to the right and moved to the inside shoulder in front of the deputy. The deputy made an evasive maneuver, but was unable to avoid a rear end collision with the passenger car. The deputy sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. PROCTOR was not injured. PROCTOR was cited for Failure to Yield to an Emergency Vehicle and Driving Uninsured. The operator of the motorcycle, Deputy Troy GILMORE, is a 6 year employee of the Clackamas County Sheriff’s office and is assigned to the Traffic Unit as a motor officer. His condition was originally listed as serious, but has been upgraded to fair.
