Forecasters are calling for above-average temperatures for the rest of the year, and while November and December are normally the wettest months of the year in Oregon, the precipitation trend is also predicted to continue below average. Officials with the National Weather Service are now saying the chance of El Nino conditions for the last months of the year has decreased to about 65-percent. El Nino, which is associated with above-average sea surface temperatures, normally means milder and warmer winters with below-average rainfall. If El Nino develops, it will come later in the year than first predicted. Forecaster’s models show that it could be a weak event rather than a moderate event.
