Lakeside, CCSO release – On May 2, 2018, at about 10:35 PM, a deputy observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on North 8th St in Lakeside. The vehicle was traveling 47 miles per hour (MPH) in a 25 MPH zone. A stop was made on the vehicle. The deputy observed the driver spoke with slurred speech, had bloodshot eyes and his breath emitted a strong odor of alcohol of an alcoholic beverage. The driver was identified as Ricky Blattler who consented to a series of nationally standardized field sobriety tests. Mr. Blattyler’s performance in doing the tests caused the deputy to believe Mr. Blattler was operating a vehicle under the influence of intoxicants (DUII). At the conclusion of the tests Mr. Blattler was arrested for DUII. Mr. Blattler was taken to North Bend PD, the nearest location of the intoxilyzer for processing. Blattler provided a breath sample and the result was .14% which is almost twice the legal limit of per se intoxication in the State of Oregon. Ricky Blattler, 58 years old of Woodland, WA, was unable to find someone local to be released to so he was taken to the Coos County Jail where he was booked and turned over to jail staff. He was released on citation later in the evening.
