Good Friday morning to you.  Another “Weekend in the West” is upon us and it looks like a wild weather weekend.  Rain and wind in the forecast.  If you haven’t seen the Mother Nature show at Shore Acres yet, don’t worry those waves will be crashing all weekend on the rocky shore.  Should be fun to watch either outside in the wind and rain or inside the observatory building.  Winds at 20-30 mph out of the South to Southwest, lots of rain in the forecast with highs near 60 and lows near 50.  Mixed feelings about Saturday.  Been doing the Medicare shuffle all week and not liking it, but the date remains and can’t stop time.  Just not sure how to approach the big number that seemed so far away for so long.  Oh well, it is life.  I hear I might get a cake, so there is a positive aspect to the day!  In our news, a quake off the Coast yesterday, almost due west of us on the outer fault line.  BAH has some good health stuff for free on Saturday involving your neck and head.  It is a free cancer screening.  Thank you BAH!  Good lecture program Saturday at SWOCC regarding offshore wind energy.  Yes, they still want to harness the winds over the waves.  ODFW Fish Passage Task Force meets today in Salem.  Even though CBPL is closed today, Foreign Film Friday continues.  Free archery training for instructors offered in Monument today.  South Coast Striders head to Dellenback Dune Saturday.  Spanglish offered Saturday at CBPL.  Veterinarian talk at NBPL Saturday. Film Noir at CBPL Sunday.  Limited coho and sturgeon fishing reopened on the Columbia River.  They had to don their survival suits and jump in the cold Pacific Ocean – 5 rescued off of Newport.  Abandoned boat case solved in Douglas Co.  Glendale male charged with child porn. Fatal accidents on Sitkum Ln., and Razorback Hill here in Coos Co.  Search & Rescue at Sunset Bay, escape charge in Charleston on the CCSO reports.  Theft charge on NBPD log.  In sports, prep schedules for the weekend for both NBHS & MHS.  Prep football tonight out of town.  Bulldogs have to go all the way to Redmond.  Imagine how many high schools with football teams they will pass in order to get a league game in.  Wow!  Marshfield has a big volleyball tournament on Saturday.  Pirates will induct new members to their Hall of Fame on Saturday at the Mill Hotel.  Prep VB & soccer results from last night, Marshfield moving up the league ladder in VB.  Soccer not as good for the Pirates last night.  Sports schedules for the weekend for SWOCC, UO & OSU.  Duck & Beaver football teams on the road, but also on the tube Saturday!  Collegiate cross country today back in Madison, WI, both the Beavers and Ducks are running.  Seahawks home on Sunday to the Ravens.  Have a good weekend.  Gee, I hope the cake is lemon.  Thanks,    Matt
