This local news brief is brought to you by Southwest Oregon Regional Airport www.flyoth.com with air service from North Bend to San Francisco.

Good Monday morning.  Hope your “Weekend in the West” was a good one.  Looks like the weather will be a little better this week.  We’ll start off with some clouds with highs in the mid 60s and overnight lows in the mid 50s.  Winds out of the south to southwest at 5-10 mph.  In our news, City of North Bend has some disabled access ramps to install that could impact some driving patterns.  We have the latest from the state on the State of the Flu in Oregon.  Get your flu shot yet?  Boy, I am paying closer attention to this now, Medicare insurance enrollment time.  Planning Appeal fees before the North Bend City Council at its Work Session today.  Drop-In Computer Lab at CBPL today.  Port of Coos Bay Commission meets.  Why isn’t there something big going on other than just dredging the channel?  Seems like we have taken a step backwards with the Port.  Maybe they have something up their sleeve, let’s hope!  A sex education panel at CBPL, now this is interesting!   DEQ issues penalties statewide and one falls on Coos Co.  BLM has compiled a list of economic achievements in 2018.   USCG rescues a male from a Pacific Northwest forest.  Another bobcat found at a Eugene area school.  They didn’t kill this one.  Fatal crashes on Hwy. 3 & Hwy. 22E.  Officer involved shooting in Oakridge.  He responded to a Domestic Disturbance call when things went sideways.  Warrant service and pursuit in the Bay Area.  NBPD logs show warrant service, on-going mail tampering, and a lady with a crowbar.  In sports, prep schedules for the week for both NBHS & MHS.  Prep football results, Pirates win, Bulldogs fall.  Prep volleyball results from the MHS tourney on Saturday.  Prep cross country, both the Bulldogs and Pirates ran at Portland Saturday.  Prep soccer on Saturday saw the Lady Bulldogs bag a win and the boys achieve a tie.  SWOCC volleyball fell on the road this past weekend, and the Laker women’s soccer team lost.  In Pac-12 play, good weekend in football for the Ducks & Beavers.  Not so good for the volleyball teams, they got one out-of-four.  Duck and Beaver cross country runners were in Wisconsin Friday.  Women’s soccer both lost at home.  Seahawks didn’t cap the weekend for us.  They lost to the Ravens and head to Atlanta this weekend.  Have a good week, well as best you can, at least the weather will be better later in the week.  Thank you for reading and feel free to pass along to others.  Oh, no lemon cake, but a pound cake, close enough.     Matt
