News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On October 15, 2014, at about 2347 hours, Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Coquille Police Department were dispatched to 93937 Highway 42S, Coquille, Oregon in response to a residence fire occurring there. Upon arrival, the residence was found to be fully engulfed in flames. The structure was a two story wood structure that had been converted into a myrtle wood shop that sits right along the highway. Fire units from the Coquille Fire Department and the Bandon Police Department responded and were able to extinguish the flames. After the fire was extinguished one individual was found deceased, four other individuals were displaced by the fire. The identification of the victim and the cause of the fire remains under investigation (believed to be Phillip A. Clausen, DOB 09/10/1926, 88 YOA, WMA, resides at above address.). The Coos County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the following agencies: Coquille Fire Department, Bandon Fire Department, Coquille Police Department, Oregon Department of Transportation, Oregon State Fire Marshall’s Office, Coos County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Red Cross of Oregon. The investigation is continuing.
