A commercial fishing vessel, homeported in Port Townsend, WA, was ordered to stay in port at Garibaldi on the North Oregon Coast Sunday, July 20, after authorities found numerous safety violations and illegal drugs.  The “Jimco” was spotted entering the bay about 5 p.m. and docked at the Garibaldi Marina.  U.S. Coast Guard personnel and Oregon State Police troopers met the boat.  The Coast Guard was originally notified by the Oregon State Police that the crew was potentially operating the “Jimco” in violation of the Federal Clean Water Act.  The vessel was boarded and numerous safety violations were allegedly found, including four hazardous condition issues.  A female crewmember was found to be wanted on two outstanding arrest warrants and taken into custody.  She was also found to be in possession of methamphetamines.  That ignited a search of the vessel and three bags of meth and two pipes were located.  The vessel’s Master was placed under arrest on drug charges, while a third crewmember was released.
