Former Oregon State catcher Andrew Susac became the second former Beaver to win a World Series when his San Francisco Giants defeated Kansas City, 3-2, Wednesday in game seven between the teams. He joins Jacoby Ellsbury (2007 and 2013 Boston) as former Beavers who have earned World Series rings. Susac appeared in two games in the World Series and four overall in the postseason. However, in the regular season, after a mid-year call-up, Susac made an impact as the backup catcher to Buster Posey. Susac played in 35 games, batting .273 with three home runs and 19 runs batted in. He threw out 32 percent of the runners attempting to steal against him, while being charged with just one passed ball and no errors. A native of Roseville, Calif., Susac played two seasons for the Beavers – 2010 and 2011 – before being drafted in the second round in by the Giants.
