In celebration of National Get Outdoors Day, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will host a free fishing event at Loon Lake Campground. The event demonstrates the BLM’s commitment to being a good neighbor in the communities we serve, connecting families to the outdoors and promoting outdoor recreation. The event will be held at the BLM’s Loon Lake dock, located in the campground’s day use area, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Park rangers and biologists will help those in attendance fish the lake for a chance to catch a bluegill, bass, or trout. The BLM is able to provide a limited number of fishing poles and other equipment. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own fishing equipment if they have it available. Participants will also be able to make a fish print to take home. The BLM will waive the $5 day use fee at Loon Lake on June 9 as part of the event. The overnight camping fees remain in effect. Partners from federal agencies, non-profit organizations and the recreation industry are celebrating the 9th annual National Get Outdoors Day (or GO Day) to encourage healthy, active outdoor fun.
