Several school districts in Western Oregon ran two-hour delayed schedules, or closed, on Monday, Nov. 30, due to freezing rain and icy road conditions. Delays were reported at Mapleton (east of Florence, which later turned to a closure), Winston-Dillard (south of Roseburg, which later turned to a closure) and Elkton (northern Douglas Co.). News alert issued by ODOT: SW Oregon: Use extreme caution on Interstate 5 in Douglas County. Multiple crashes were reported due to freezing rain and ice. An OSP Patrol Vehicle was struck multiple times while the trooper was out on another crash. There are no injuries reported. I-5 remained open, but motorists were advised to reduce speed for the driving conditions and delay travel unless necessary. Drivers were also asked to turn on headlights and make sure windshields and windows are clear of ice.
