Marshfield moved into sole possession of third place in the 4A Far West League softball race after sweeping visiting Douglas, 23-2 & 19-1, in a doubleheader at Coos Head Field in Coos Bay Friday. The Lady Pirates lead Brookings-Harbor and Siuslaw by two games with three games remaining. South Umpqua (11-1) and North Bend (10-2) remain first & second after securing sweeps also on Friday. The first place Lancers beat visiting Brookings-Harbor 13-0 & 11-2. North Bend won at Siuslaw in Florence 10-0 & 11-0. On Monday, Marshfield (6-6) is at Brookings-Harbor (4-8) for a 5pm game, while South Umpqua visits Siuslaw (4-8), and Douglas (1-11) travels to North Bend.
