Workers have begun dismantling the East Grandstands at Historic Hayward Field. They are all that remain of the field that used to serve as the University of Oregon’s football field before Autzen Stadium was built in Eugene. The 93-year old structure is being replaced by a state-of-the-art facility worthy of international track meets. The construction will also remove the west grandstands and the office/track complex at the Northwest corner of the track.
