In January Coos Bay Police Officers arrested three drunk drivers. All three of the drivers were arrested by officers working overtime specifically searching for impaired drivers. Funding to cover overtime expenses was provided by Oregon Impact, an organization committed to reducing the number of traffic fatalities on Oregon roads by funding saturation traffic enforcement operations and promoting driver education programs. The Coos Bay Police Department will continue with saturation traffic enforcement activities during the month of February, specifically on Superbowl Sunday. If you have or are planning to consume alcohol and or drugs, please don’t risk hurting yourself or someone else by choosing to drive while under the influence. Call a friend or a cab.
