Coos Art Museum will be closed to the public on the 4th of July. However, in celebration of the holiday the Museum will be participating in the City’s 4th of July Family Fun Day at Mingus Park. Museum staff will be running a free face-painting booth from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, 2015. Though the face-painting is free of charge, donations to Coos Art Museum’s Art Education Scholarship fund will gladly be accepted. Coos Art Museum has been a cultural focal point of Oregon’s scenic Southern Coast since 1966. It occupies an historic 1936 Art Deco US Federal Building in downtown Coos Bay. The Museum offers a wide range of arts activities including exhibitions, art classes, and lectures. Normal hours are 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, Tuesday through Friday and 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Saturday. Museum admission: $5 general, $2 students, veterans and seniors, free to Museum members. Free to active duty military through the Blue Star Museum Program.
