News release BAH.  The Kids’ HOPE Center is pleased to have received a $2,500 grant from NW Natural Gas. The surprise contribution was presented to the Kids’ HOPE Center, earlier this month, at a community luncheon hosted by NW Natural Gas. “We’re pleased to provide funding to the Kids’ HOPE Center to help further the cause of healing, outreach, prevention, and education,” said Linda Kennedy, NW Natural community affairs manager. “NW Natural is committed to helping kids, and the work the center offers to restore the lives of adolescents who’ve suffered abuse is invaluable.” The Kids’ HOPE Center program supports families and child abuse victims through the provision of an all-inclusive Center where forensic child interview and medical examinations take place. Guardians and victims are offered support navigating the challenging legal prosecution system. Intervention and advocacy services are provided to families through referrals and follow-ups with partnering community agencies, initiated by Kids’ HOPE Center staff. “It’s so rare for us to receive financial contributions that aren’t earmarked for anything,” said JoAnne Shorb, Program Director for the Kids’ HOPE Center. “It’s a relief to know that if a printer breaks, or something goes wrong, this money will be there to help. We’re so grateful for NW Natural Gas’ continued support.” NW Natural Gas has been an annual sponsor of the Kids’ HOPE Center’s Family Fun Day, providing a free BBQ lunch to everyone in attendance. This year, they served meals to more than 1,200 at the event.
