An increase in the Transit Room Tax in the Bay Area will reportedly put local motels on an even tax keel with similar entities on the Central and North Oregon Coasts. City Councils for both Coos Bay & North Bend recently approved the increase of 2.5% along with the Coquille Tribe which operates the Mill Casino/Hotel/RV Park in North Bend. The Visitors Convention Bureau estimates that the tax increase, which goes into effect April 1, 2019, will raise an additional $300,000 towards the VCB’s annual budget to promote the Bay Area for tourism.
