Marshfield plays at North Bend tonight in a 4A Far West League coed doubleheader.  The Frosh/Soph teams play at 3 p.m., followed by the JV teams at 4:15 p.m., then the varsity girls about 6 p.m. and the varsity boys about 7:30 p.m.

North Bend’s Nathan Mersino placed second in wrestling at Pleasant Hill this past weekend. This is the first time a Bulldog freshman has made the finals this year. Mason Laird also placed second and continues to be near the top of the podium. North Bend also had several third place finishers starting with Mark Deane at #120, Darius Davis at #138, Aaron Wagner at #170, Jake Buck at #182, and Zach Schneider at #195.

NB Forensics
The North Bend High School Forensics Team had a good weekend at the Pacific University Tournament in Forest Grove. Chelsea Samora, Alyssa Matas, and Lorien Deyo stood out with strong debating or performing, but Grant Goodwin stole the show by grabbing the top speaker of the tournament award, which earned him a $5000 scholarship.

NBHS Swimming was busy Saturday morning as the girl’s team beat Phoenix and the boy’s team finished 2nd. Danny Woodruff anchored the boys 200 medley relay and out touched the others for a 1st place finish of 1:45.99.  Alissa McCord and Matthew Perry took 2nd while Shaelynn Brierley and Daniel Langlie placed 3rd in the 200 freestyle events.  Amedee Kirkpatrick had a close race finishing 2nd, with Eddie Metcalf getting a personal best time and placing 4th in the 100 free.  Alyssa Bennett, Cassie Dallas, and Karl Stuntzner-Gibson all place 1st in their individual events with Karl having a best time off the season in the 100 butterfly. To wrap it up the Girls “B” 400 freestyle relay stretched their finish out touching Phoenix for a second place behind the NB “A” relay.
