Marshfield pulled away from Douglas (0-2, 5-9) in a 56-23 boy’s 4A Far West League basketball game at Winston Tuesday night. The Pirates (2-0, 12-4) were led by junior Rylee Trendell’s 15-points. The Marshfield JV team beat Douglas 49-46. The Pirate girls (1-1, 9-7) fell to Douglas (2-0, 9-5) 45-42, while Marshfield’s JV team beat the Trojans 40-39.

Top ranked North Bend (2-0, 13-0) remained unbeaten with a 50-40 win over 12th ranked South Umpqua (1-1, 11-4) Tuesday night at home. North Bend’s girls (1-1, 7-6) easily beat visiting South Umpqua (0-2, 1-14) 73-20.

Also in the 4A Far West League Tuesday night, Brookings-Harbor girls (2-0, 10-3) beat visiting Siuslaw (0-2, 2-10) 66-35, and the Bruin boys (1-1, 4-12) downed the Vikings (0-2, 3-8) 45-36. Round three is Friday, Jan. 23, 2015: Brookings-Harbor is at Marshfield, North Bend at Douglas, and South Umpqua plays at Siuslaw in Florence.

Booster Clubs
The Marshfield and North Bend booster clubs meet today at noon. The Pirates will gather at Abby’s Pizza in Coos Bay, while the Bulldog supporters meet at the high school’s Hall of Champions. Both meetings are open to those interested in local high school sports.

North Bend wrestlers attended the Oregon Classic this past weekend and teamed up with the LaGrande Tigers in the 4A division for the first time in five years. Coltyn Ringen scored first for the Bulldogs with a win to get things started and finished with two pins overall. Aaron Wagner finished with a team high three pins and Kyle Zomerschoe and Shirley Holder each earned a win a piece. Ninety teams participated in the two day event at Redmond High School. North Bend next competes in a 4A Far West League dual on Thursday at South Umpqua High School.
