Marshfield’s girls tied Junction City for the 4A/3A/2A/1A-SD3 Special District 3 regional title Saturday at Black Butte Ranch, west of Sisters. Marshfield qualified a doubles team and one singles player for the State Championships May 22-23 at the OSU Tennis Complex in Corvallis, while North Bend qualified a doubles team. For the Bulldogs, Hanna Schandelmeir-Lynch and Allie West placed second in doubles to advance, while the Pirate team of Katie Boesl and Desiree Guirado were third, and individually Cornelia Scheffod placed third to qualify.

Marshfield stands in third place after the first day of the OSAA 4A boy’s state golf championships at Quail Valley Golf Course near Banks Monday. Marshfield tallied a 333, while Seaside leads with a 301, followed by Valley Catholic’s 324, the Pirates then Scappoose 349 and Hidden Valley 355. Preston Luckman and Cody Easton both had first day totals of 82s to lead Marshfield. They are tied for 13rh. Bryce Wortman, of Mazama, is the first day leader with a five-under-par 67.
