North Bend’s boys placed 8th among 13 teams at the George Fox XC Classic at Brooks on Saturday. Grant won with 82-points, followed by Forest Grove with 83 and Wilson with 87. Summit’s Matthew Maton won the 5K race in 15:00.9. The Bulldogs were led by Michael Brown 31st in 16:47.6, and Nick Hossley 33rd in 16:49.0. Other NB runners: 65 Alberto Ramirez-Garcia 17:41.5; 90 Philip Kuckuck 18:30.1; 100 Daniel Koechel 19:38.4. North Bend’s girls were 12th out of 15 teams. Summit won with 40-points, Camas second with 52. Sophomore Kate Riley led the Bulldogs finishing 60th in 24:15.3. She was followed by: 80 Meranda Ferguson 24:41.7; 82 Shaelynn Brierley 24:44.2; 115 Amanda Willis 25:38.2; 142 Brittany Crutchfield 26:13.2; 180 Whitney Decker 27:22.6; 193 Claire Peters 28:20.5; 233 Valentina Lande 32:20.9. In the Girls’ Elite varsity race: 28 Gabby Hobson 20:09.0; 61 Hailey Finnigan 21:16.4; 79 Megan Rutherford 22:14.4; 82 Samantha Shook 22:22.0; 98 Alyssa Monohon 23:36.7; 100 Alissa McCord 23:57.6. North Bend runs in the Country Fair Classic at Veneta Wednesday.

Millicoma Marsh Trail Run Race Report 10/11/14
Three area running programs converged on the Millicoma Marsh trail on Saturday in a variety of races. The day began with the resurrected South Coast Running Club’s 5k event. Steve Campbell of Bend, OR was the overall winner in 20:04. Janet Holland of Coos Bay topped the lady finishers in a time of 20:58 and 4th overall in the race. Top 3 men and women were awarded a pumpkin prize. The 5k course includes two loops of the Millicoma track and the trail. The races are a fundraiser for the Pirates 6-8th grade XC team and the Blossom Gulch Trail Restoration Project. Following the 5k the Coos Bay School District Lap Program held an 8 and under 400m race and a 12 and under 1 mile race on the track. Every runner received a small bag of Halloween candy and top three girls and boys in the 1 mile were awarded a pumpkin. Racing concluded with a Far West League Middle School 3k XC race. North Bend and Oakland Middle Schools joined the 6-8th grade Marshfield Pirates on what proved to be a fast course. Jeremy Roe of Marshfield led the boys in a time of 10:35. Kaylee Delzotti of Marshfield was the overall winner for the girls in 11:56. The North Bend Bullpup ladies topped team scoring with an impressive 20 with Marshfield in second at 53 points and Oakland in third with 65. The Pirate boys came away with another team win besting North Bend 24 to 31. Jeremy Roe (MHS 8th) improved his course PR by 1:10. Gabe Delgado (MHS -8th) improved his time by 1:19. Aiden Leahy-Crooks (MHS 8th) improved by 1:30. Kyran Erwin (Millicoma – 7th) improved by 3:49. Kaylee Delzotti (Millicoma – 7th) improved her course time by 1:37. The Pirate harriers conclude our regular season at the FWL District Meet at Tugman on Thursday October 16th. Girls race at 4:00PM and Boys at 4:30PM. Awards and hotdog BBQ to follow. Hope to see you out at the fast and spectator friendly Tugman course on Thursday.
