The Oregon Court of Appeals has upheld the conviction of Nicholas James McGuffin in a 2011 trial involving Manslaughter in the First Degree for the death of Leah Freeman of Coquille. McGuffin is currently serving the remainder of his 120-month prison sentence at the Snake River Correctional Institute near Ontario, OR. His earliest release date is August 22, 2020. The 15-year old Freeman went missing June 28, 2000. Her badly decomposed body was found five-weeks later. McGuffin was the teen’s boyfriend at the time.
