The Marshfield boys’ basketball team will host a Family Fun Night on Saturday, Dec. 29th, at the Pirate Palace in Coos Bay. The varsity will play Newport in a rematch of last season’s opening game at the OSAA 4A Tournament in Forest Grove. The Cubs won and went on to finish third, while the Pirates finished fourth. A FREE Youth Basketball Skills Clinic will lead the Fun Day from 2:30 to 6 p.m. in the Main Gym for Grades K-6. Student-athletes will run the program. Games, contests and fundamental skills will be coached. The Jayvee game with Newport begins at 4:30 p.m. and the Varsity at 6 p.m. Admission is $2 for students and kids, $3 for adults and $6 for families. All proceeds will benefit the MHS Boys’ Basketball Program. Activities are also planned for half-time of each contest, Skills Demonstrations by the youth from the earlier Clinic, and a special Alumni Shooting Competition.
