Marshfield swept its way to the 2015 4A Far West League volleyball title with a straight set win over visiting North Bend 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-10). The Lady Pirates (8-0, 17-0) finish the regular season next week on the road at South Umpqua (Tues.) and Douglas (Thurs.). Senior McKenzie Allison recorded 17-kills to lead MHS, while junior setter Shaylynn Jensen had 29-assists, and senior Carli Clarkson came up with a team high 12-digs. The Pirates also swept the JV II and JV matches in straight sets. In other FWL matches, Siuslaw downed visiting Brookings-Harbor 3-0 (25-10, 25-12, 25-11), and South Umpqua beat visiting Douglas 3-1 (25-15, 25-23, 21-25, 25-18). Next Tuesday, Marshfield is at So. Umpqua (5-3, 6-6), North Bend (3-5, 7-10) at Brookings-Harbor (0-8, 1-15), and Douglas (3-5, 5-7) at Siuslaw (5-3, 8-6).

Unbeaten North Bend downed visiting South Umpqua 10-0 in 4A Far West League girls’ soccer at Vic Adams Field in North Bend Thursday. Second place Brookings-Harbor won at Douglas 5-1, and no score Coquille at Marshfield. On the boy’s side, undefeated North Bend beat visiting South Umpqua 9-0, and second place Brookings-Harbor won at Douglas 2-1. No score on the Coquille at Marshfield.
