Siuslaw moved into sole possession of first place in the 4A Far West League volleyball race Tuesday night with a win at home over visiting Brookings-Harbor, while Marshfield knocked rival North Bend out of a tie for first place winning in straight sets at home. The Lady Pirates prevailed 25-20, 25-23, 25-21 over the Bulldogs, while Siuslaw won 25-14, 25-12, 25-16 over the Bruins. Douglas is tied for second after winning at So. Umpqua 3-2 (29-27, 23-25, 10-25, 25-15, 15-7). This Thursday, Marshfield (2-1) is at So. Umpqua (0-3), North Bend (2-1) travels to Brookings-Harbor (0-3) and Douglas (2-1) visits Siuslaw (3-0).

In 4A Far West girl’s soccer Tuesday, North Bend beat visiting So. Umpqua 12-0, while Brookings-Harbor won 11-0 at Douglas. In boy’s soccer, Marshfield downed Coquille 5-0 in Coos Bay, North Bend won 17-0 over visiting So. Umpqua and Brookings-Harbor won at Douglas 5-0. Thursday, Marshfield (1-1) plays at North Bend (2-0), Douglas (0-2) at So. Umpqua (0-2), and Brookings-Harbor (2-0) at Coquille (1-1). On the girl’s side, North Bend (2-0) at Marshfield (0-1), Douglas (0-2) at So. Umpqua (0-2) and Brookings-Harbor (2-0) at Coquille (1-0).
