Marshfield’s girls took first-place, and the Pirate boys second Saturday at the 2019 District 4 Track & Field Championships at Marist Catholic High School in Eugene.  The host Spartan boys won with 210.5 points to Marshfield’s 126.5; however, the Lady Pirates won the title with 182.83-points to Marist Catholic’s 142.5.  Marshfield had 8 event champions and some double winners.   Seniors Elise Martin & Ravyn Miranda led the way.  Martin won the Triple Jump (34-11.50) & 100H (15.82), while Miranda took the 100 (12.68) & Long Jump (16-08).  Martin was second in the Long Jump (34-11.50), while Miranda placed second in the 200 (26.10).  Sophomore Mira Matthews won the Javelin (111-07), while senior Khaley Aguilar (11-06) led a 1-2 finish in the Pole Vault with sophomore Raegan Rhodes (8-0).   Senior Maddie Arzie qualified for State by placing second in the Shot Put (33-06.50).  Senior Jazmin Chavez qualified for State by achieving the standard with a fourth-place finish in the 800 (2:22.24).  Marshfield’s boys got a big 1-2 finish in the Shot Put from seniors Gannon Holland (46-05.5) & Keizer Howerton (45-02).  Senior Micah Tardie was second in both the 100 (11.62) & 200 (23.45).  Senior Brian Place was second in the Javelin (162-08), while classmate Chase Howerton led another 1-2 finish in the Pole Vault.  Howerton won at 13-06, while senior Kamren Chard followed at 13-03.  Senior Sirus Robie placed second in the Triple Jump (40-06.75).  The OSAA/OnPoint Community Credit Union 3A/4A State Track & Field Championships are May 17 & 18 at Mt. Hood CC in Gresham.
