Marist Catholic of Eugene swept the 2018 SkyEm League District Cross Country Championships Thursday at Lane Community College in Eugene.  Siuslaw’s boys edged Marshfield’s 77-82 to claim second place behind the Spartans (23) and earn a trip to the State Championships Nov. 3rd, also at LCC.  Junior Jimmy Talley of Cottage Grove was the individual winner on the 5K course in 16:04.22.  Marist runners took the next three spots, and actually had six runners finish in the top ten.  Junior Aaron Prince ran a personal best 16:55.58 to lead the Pirates in 11th.  He was followed by:  13 Gabe Delgado 17:01.58; 18 Kyran Erwin 17:14.22; 19 Robert Kliewer 17:26.91; 21 Jonathon Sampier 17:41.91; 25 Chandler Pruett 17:55.92; 29 Benedict Gerdes 18:26.35.  Marshfield’s girls (86) were also third behind Marist Catholic (35) & Siuslaw (45).  Senior Jazmin Chavez led the Lady Pirates by placing fourth overall.  Junior McKenna Priske of Marist Cathoic was the winner in 18:06.68.  Chavez was timed in 18:50.85.  MHS girls:  16 Kayle Delzotti 20:25.75; 20 Emily Kruse 21:06.17; 28 Jordan Baarstad 22:42.71; 30 Bailey Wallack 23:14.66; 32 Kaylin Dea 24:04.46; 35 Sydney Trendell 24:49.12.
