News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On 09/28/14 at about 2:37 PM, Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Shutters Landing Lane, in the community of Hauser, north of North Bend, Oregon for a report of a missing autistic 5 year old boy. It was reported that the child was last seen heading east from the residence into a wooded area off Shutters Landing Lane. Sheriff’s Deputies and members from Hauser Fire and Rescue initially responded and conducted a hasty search. Search and Rescue members from Coos County SAR group responded along with the US Coast Guard from the North Bend Air Station. The search lasted for about 1 hour and at about 5:52 PM, a Search and Rescue K9 Team located the boy at the bottom of a ravine, stuck in the mud. He was escorted out of the woods and returned to his family without any injury.
