A 27-year old Portland female, who had been reported missing by her mother May 17, was found deceased in the Emily Creek area of the Chetco River, east of Brookings, on Sunday, May 26. Hikers found the body of Michella Craft submerged in about two-feet of water. She was identified through her fingerprints. Clothing and camping items believed to belong to Craft were also found near Second Bridge, 16-miles up the Chetco River.
