On Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at about 5:30PM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a single vehicle rollover crash on Highway 74 near MP 31, just north of Lexington. Preliminary investigation revealed a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup was traveling northbound on SR 74 when it left the driver lost control of the vehicle and rolled several times. The driver was identified as 42 year old Anthony ENRIQUEZ from Ukiah and his passenger, 35 year old Joshua Kenneth HERRIG from Heppner. During the crash HERRIG was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. ENRIQUEZ was transported by ambulance to Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Heppner for non-life threatening injuries. Alcohol, speed and safety restraints are being considered as factors in this crash. SR 74 was closed for approximately 2.5 to 3 hours while this investigation was completed.
