Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing to investigate this afternoon’s fatal motorcycle crash on Highway 140 at milepost 27 east of Medford. Preliminary information from troopers at the scene indicates that on March 29, at approximately 12:51 p.m., a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle, grey and red in color, was traveling eastbound on highway 140 when the driver, identified as TAMARA A. ALTER, 57, of Medford, failed to negotiate a left hand curve and struck the guardrail. ALTER was ejected from the motorcycle and thrown down a steep, rocky embankment. The motorcycle continued on for about another 100 yards before coming to rest on the westbound (opposite) side of the highway. ALTER was pronounced deceased at the scene. She was wearing a helmet and neither excessive speed nor impairment are believed to have been a factor in the crash.
