Fourth-ranked, and unbeaten Marshfield swept Brookings-Harbor on the road Thursday night in the opener of the second-half of the 4A Far West League season. The Lady Pirates won 25-3, 25-16, 25-11, behind strong serving against the Bruins. Junior Shaylynn Jensen had nine of the team’s 24 Aces. In other FWL matches, North Bend downed visiting Douglas 3-1 (25-22, 20-25, 25-12, 26-24), and second-place Siuslaw won at home over South Umpqua 3-1 (25-3, 25-16, 25-11). The Pirates are 6-0, 15-0, followed by Siuslaw 4-2, 7-5, North Bend 3-3, 7-8, So. Umpqua 3-3, 4-6, Douglas 2-4, 4-6, and Brookings-Harbor 0-6, 1-13. Next Tuesday, Siuslaw is at Marshfield, So. Umpqua at North Bend, and Brookings-Harbor at Douglas.

North Bend’s boys downed Coquille 14-0 in a Far West League soccer match at Coquille Thursday. The Bulldogs are 5-0 in the FWL and 9-0 overall. North Bend’s girls also downed the Red Devils, but by an 11-0 score. North Bend’s girls also lead the FWL with a 5-0 mark, 9-0 overall. No scores on Douglas at Marshfield boys and girls.
