More than 1,000 signed up for last Saturday’s 19th Annual Newport Marathon on the Central Oregon Coast. The field was split into the full 26.2-mile marathon, a half-marathon, and walk. Over 400 runners finished the certified course along Yaquina Bay Road. Nico Composto, of Montana, was the overall winner in 2:31:53. Stephanie Cook, of Portland, won the women’s portion in 3:13:17. Chad Brownson was the top finisher from the Bay Area. The 44-year old came in 46th overall at 3:18.16.
